Information You Need to Know About the Crusaders Lacrosse Club

Juniors03_large

The Crusaders are a volunteer-led youth lacrosse club dedicated to bringing the sport of lacrosse to kids in the Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Cupertino and Sunnyvale areas of the southern Peninsula.  The club was founded in 2004 and has annually fielded some of the most competitive teams in the area.  We currently have approximately 160 kids in the program and have grown every year.  The Crusaders are dedicated to promoting the sport of lacrosse and to developing our player's lacrosse skills, sportsmanship, teamwork and accountability in a healthy and fun environment.

Our team colors are blue and white.  Our home field is Graham Middle School in Mountain View.   Our season runs from February through May.  Games for all divisions take place on Saturdays and Sundays.

The NCJLA and The Crusaders are partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and all Crusaders coaches have attended PCA certification seminars.

Player Responsibilities

The club has certain expectations from its players as described below:

Commitment - Team success is dependent on player commitment. We expect players to be committed to their team and to demonstrate this commitment with attendance and enthusiastic participation at practices and games. Demonstrate your committment by your hard work and 100% effort at practices and games and through a dedicated effort to improve your skills.

Responsibility - Be responsible for your equipment, game uniform and your behavior. Know when and where your practices and games are. Show up on time with your equipment on and be ready to go. Notify your coach or team manager in advance if you are sick or must miss a practice or game.

Respect - Respect the game, respect your opponents, respect your teammates and respect your coaches.

Attitude - Take a positive attitude towards learning lacrosse skills and strategies. Support your teammates with encouragement and positive affirmation. Win with humility. Lose graciously without losing the will to win.

Parent Responsibilities

The parent or guardian of every player must fulfill certain responsibilities in order for the club to function smoothly and meet the needs of the players.

Attend parent meetings - usually one or two per year

Complete and submit all requested documents, including the signed statements and emergency medical information. (Note: if medical insurance changes during the year, you need to notify the Club Registrar.)

Sign up for one or more volunteer positions.
The continuing success of the Club depends on active participation by every family!

Ensure that your child can get to all practices and games.
Do your fair share of driving to practices and away games, as needed. Also, attend as many games as you can to root for the Crusaders!

Insurance: Each player must be covered by parent's or guardian's medical insurance. U.S. Lacrosse provides last resort medical insurance which is payable when the team member's own policy coverage is exhausted. All players must join US Lacrosse.
